The short answer
Profound is an enterprise platform: daily runs of a custom prompt set across up to nine answer engines, API access, exports and a custom quote, plus a free seven-day trial whose prompts you cannot edit. Share of Voice is a monthly 64-answer scan of one brand across four model APIs for 19 a month, with every answer kept. If you need daily tracking, many markets, an API or a procurement-grade vendor, Profound is the serious option. If you need a cheap, inspectable monthly baseline, that is what we sell.
We sell Share of Voice, so read this as a vendor’s comparison and check the live pages before you decide. We have tried to be exact about what each product publishes, and to say so where a figure could not be verified.
The short version: these are not two versions of the same thing. Profound is built for teams that track AI answers every day across markets and need the data in their own systems. Our scan is built for one brand that wants a repeatable, inspectable monthly measurement without a procurement process.
Who each product is built for
Profound’s homepage leads with enterprise proof: it says a third of the Fortune 100 use it and names customers such as MongoDB, Zoom and Ramp. Its pricing page lists two plans, a free seven-day Trial and a custom-priced Enterprise plan, with SSO, SOC 2 and a dedicated support channel on the enterprise side (Profound pricing, checked 28 October 2026).
Share of Voice is the opposite shape. One brand, eight buyer questions you review before paying, four model APIs, two runs: 64 planned answers a month, with the original answers and their returned sources behind every count, and a factual website GEO check. It costs CHF 19, €19, US$19 or £19 a month including tax, and renewals can be cancelled from the account. There is no sales call because there is nothing to negotiate.

What Profound costs, as far as anyone can tell
No dollar amount appears on Profound’s pricing page today. Third-party reviews and G2’s pricing page still describe a Starter plan at $99 a month and a Growth plan at $399 a month; those tiers were not on the pricing page when we checked, so treat them as historical (Geoptie review, Trakkr review, the latter written by a competitor). A Profound blog post from November 2025 priced an agency add-on at $399 a month per client workspace; we could not confirm that it is current (Profound blog).
Profound also meters its AI agents and workflows with credits, while browsing answer-engine insights and API calls are described as free within a plan. If you are quoted a figure, ask what is metered and what is flat.
Where Profound is clearly stronger
- Daily data. 64 answers a month is a baseline, not a time series. If you ship changes weekly and want to see movement, daily runs matter.
- Breadth. Up to nine answer engines, including Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and Copilot, which we do not measure at all.
- Integration. An API, exports and more than 200 integrations, so the data can live in your warehouse or BI tool.
- Crawler analytics. Profound records AI agent visits to your site; our website check is a static inspection of what crawlers can read, not a log of who came.
- Scale and procurement. SSO, SOC 2 and dedicated support are the things large organisations have to buy.
Where Share of Voice is different
- Price and commitment. 19 a month, cancel any time, no quote. The whole category above it starts around $29 to $95 a month for 15 to 50 prompts, and Profound sits above that.
- Inspectable by design. Each count links to the original answers and the sources they returned. Our own-brand study is published with all 624 answers for the same reason.
- Questions you approve. The eight questions are proposed from your website and edited by you before the first charge, then reused so months can be compared.
- A website check in the same report. A factual record of crawl rules, metadata and structured data on the inspected pages, labelled as evidence rather than a score.
- Honest about limits. Two runs show some variation but cannot estimate a stable market share. The report says so on every page.
What we lack is just as clear: no daily tracking, no API, no sentiment scoring, no Google AI features, no multi-market view for one brand. If any of those is on your requirements list, our scan is not the answer and we would rather say so here.
A decision rule
- You track AI answers daily across several markets and need the data in your own tools: Profound, or another enterprise platform, and budget for a quote.
- You want one defensible monthly number for one brand, with the evidence attached, for less than the price of a lunch: our scan.
- You are not sure yet: run the free manual method for a month, then decide which gap hurts more, depth or cost.
- You are choosing an agency rather than a tool: take any baseline with you, so the proposals have something to be measured against. See hiring a GEO agency.
Is Share of Voice a cheaper version of Profound?
No. It measures far less: 64 answers a month from four model APIs for one brand, rather than daily runs across up to nine engines. It is cheaper because the scope is smaller, not because the same data is discounted.
Does Profound have a free plan?
Its pricing page lists a free seven-day trial with 50 industry prompts you cannot edit, and no free ongoing plan. Share of Voice has no trial either; its public example scan shows the complete report format.
Which one covers Google AI Overviews?
Profound does, on its Enterprise plan. Share of Voice does not: it queries the OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini and Perplexity model APIs only, and its reports say so.
